~Year 4 student, Bangkok Patana School
Creativity, like many of the best things in life, is best when shared, which is why I love working as a writer in schools, universities and beyond. I’ve led successful workshops and residencies both in the UK and internationally, in all sorts of settings – working with primary and secondary school pupils, university students and academics, libraries, writers’ groups and community theatre companies.
The content of my workshops is tailored to fit the needs of each group, but playfulness, passion and an open mind are always at the forefront – whether it’s an author visit at a school, a one-off workshop at a literary festival, or a longer project or residency. For more information on what I do, including sample workshop outlines and testimonials, email me!
Here’s what others have to say:
“Tori has a naturally inquiring mind and insightful way of looking at things; she is a creative thinker and trusts her own instincts. It is her passion, self-motivation, aspiration and her evident ability that make me feel confident in recommending Tori most highly as a visiting writer to work in schools with students and teachers.”
~Kathy Wallace, Head of English, Shrewsbury International School
“You opened up new ideas”; “Stretches your imagination”; “So cool!”
~GCSE students, Shrewsbury International School
“Keep doing these wonderful things!”
~workshop participant, KALEIDOSCOPE Conference, University of Warwick
Writing workshops have been shown to boost literacy skills, build confidence, and open up new ways of looking at the world – at any age. For a comprehensive study on the tangible results of writing in schools, see this report from the National Association of Writers in Education.
