I live in north London, where I write and make a variety of things, including speculative fiction, collages and visual poetry.
My work has appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies including including The Mammoth Book of SF Stories by Women, Penning Perfumes, Beneath Ceaseless Skies and Sidekick Books’ Battalion. It’s also been shortlisted for the British Science Fiction Association Award and the Parsec Award, and won a special commendation in the James White Award.
With Claire Trévien I organise Verse Kraken Retreats, a series of innovative location-based retreats for writers of all genres and disciplines. I also co-edited the original iteration of Verse Kraken, a multimedia literary journal. I was Writer-in-Residence at Shrewsbury International School from 2008-2010, and have continued to run workshops and teach creative writing in schools, universities, and community settings.
Other hats I’ve worn include running LGBTQ content as a founding organiser of Nine Worlds GeekFest, teaching digital communications at the London College of Fashion, my current day job as database manager for the charity Arts Emergency, and an in-the-works advocacy project for creative workers with ADHD and other invisible disabilities.
